Inside out project

I have chosen to analyse the animation of the movie inside out because I am very familiar with the movie and I really enjoy its colourful nature and warm story telling.
Having the chance analyse this movie from a critical point of view is defiantly beneficial to me personally as cute and colourful characters are something I really enjoy designing.

Here I will list a few of the many animations principles , camera shots, use of colour and more.

Use of squash and stretch:

In this scene we also see the use of the animation technique squash and stretch as we see Digust neck stretch upwards as she shrieks at the borollic.
It wasn’t necessary for them to animate her in this manner but this exaggeration in her reaction but the character a lot more fun and really gets across her disdain for the food in front of them.

Staging.

Within the first few seconds of the scene as we can clearly see the parents preparing their daughter to ear her breakfast.
Riley in the front and centre of the screen is dressed in bib and is given a plate in front of her full of vegetables sets the stage for the Next scene with the father encouraging her to it.
I really like how this scene was animated as he clearly see the scene being set up within a matter of seconds.

Exaggeration/Appeal

In the scene with anger there are a few principles of animation that I have picked up on.
Not only do we see the use of squash stretch being used here to really push angry emotions but we also see some examples of both exaggeration and appeal.

It regards to the exaggeration of this scene not only are we seeing his body stretch outward but we also see the shape of his mouth and teeth change to really show the viewer is disdain for the current situation.

The appeal of all of these elements put together really makes for an interesting character. From his relaxed demeanour to suddenly being enraged it is indicated to the viewer that he feeling his emotions incredibly strongly,

the fire coming out of his head is a very good addition to this and is reminiscent to old cartoons like tom and jerry for example as often they would have characters turn red expell fire or steam from their heads to show rage.
